Refractive Lens Exchange (RLE) or Clear Lens Extraction (CLE) is a surgical procedure to correct refractive errors. It differs from other refractive surgical procedures because it involves replacing the natural lens of the eye, not reshaping the cornea. CLE is similar to cataract surgery.
It is predominantly used for patients with:
- refractive errors outside the range for laser surgery
- changes in the natural lens of the eye that makes your surgeon feel that you are likely to get a cataract
- those who wish to be able to see in the distance and read without glasses
Types of Clear Lens Extraction
CLASSIC LENS more
Lens replacement is completely and utterly liberating for people who had abandoned hope of ever being able to see well again without glasses.
We gently implant a smart, soft lens into the eye that acts as a permanent replacement lens, inserted into the eye so that it stays in place, forever to correct your distance vision.
BESPOKE LENS more
Bespoke lens treatment, as the name suggests, replaces the natural lens in your eye with one specifically designed to compensate for your eye’s natural imperfections.
A smart, accommodating or multi-focal lens, bespoke to your eye that can eliminate any future need for glasses or contact lenses both for distance and reading.
PHAKIC LENS more
For some people, lens replacement is not the only option available. Phakic intraocular lenses are additional lenses placed inside your eye and work alongside your natural lens to restore good quality, high-definition sight, and at the same time minimizing any further need for either glasses or contact lenses. This type of surgery is reversible.
